Great post Dave and you've made some accurate and fair observations. Recognition awards and awards events send out simple yet strong messages that are easy for people to identify with. So when the awards neglect a prominent segment, it really sends out the wrong message to a lot of people.

There are lots of women entrepreneurs running great businesses, and also a lot of young entrepreneurs (both male and female) that are doing amazing and progressive things.

Business in Vancouver's "Influential Women in Business" Awards are now taking nominations, so if you know any great businesswomen, here's a chance to help get them some well deserved recognition: http://www.biv.com/iwib/
