It is indeed disturbing that in certain sectors it is easier to trade with the US then within Canada. Not to mention that it is a sad commentary on federal and provincial leadership.

Couldn’t agree more. You’d think that with sustainability being front and center someone would have recognized that maybe we need to address the need for more integrated markets — starting at local and regional levels as a key part of sustainability. All i ever hear about is that we have to be leaders in creating new technologies that will reduce emissions. Maybe we need to start thinking locally to realize true sustainability.
And to address our continuing conversion from creators of real wealth to Macployees (Adam Smith we need you now more than ever). And how about addressing need for improved transportation infrastructure to facilitate market development? And what role will immigration have to play? I haven’t seen anyone thinking about any of these issues holistically. What a shame.
