Just finished watching tonight’s daily show. Everything was typically funny until Senator John McCain came on…
All of the sudden the show turned (ironically) into a crossfire-like mess of mindless interruptions, accusations, and crowd pandering rants. Isn’t this everything that Jon Stewart makes fun of?
Sigh… I wish there more Assif Mandvi. He is by far the funniest guy on the show.

But Crossfire is just pundits going back and forth doing stuff like that. This, being a discussion with an actual politician, is still good TV.
Good comparison. I think McCain was deliberately trying to talk past Stewart so he couldn’t get too many shots off. It was funny, but also a little cringe-inducing.

I posted a transcript of the McCain interview on my blog; enjoy!
McCain was definitely talking past Stewart, but to be fair, it may have been because Stewart was going on these long rants… (is Stewart the host or not?)
Ultimately, it seemed both of them then fell into the classic ‘Crossfire’ trap” – keep talking and filling the air so that the other guy doesn’t get a chance to defend himself, or attack me. Isn’t that just another form of “he who yells the loudest…”
