West vs. East

So I’m in Toronto for 24 hours of meetings. I love Toronto, lots of excitement and energy in this town which is why I love coming here so much (trust me when I say I’m putting my Vancouverite cred at risk for saying this publicly).

That said, I landed and it was raining. Odd, I’m always getting mocked out east for having weather like this at home…

So, with a bit of a wry smile, I’ll admit I did get just the tiniest bit of enjoyment reading this piece.

Especially when, out in Vancouver, we are enjoying weather like this.

Come out west, we’ve got a hot patio with some cool beers waiting for you.

I really don’t mean to turn this into a Vancouver-Toronto thing, but I absolutely love it when the rest of Canada makes fun of us in Vancouver for not being able to drive in the snow and panicking when we get our one snowstorm. Why? Because we only get one snowstorm all winter. While the rest of the country is mired in sleet and slush we get snowdrops blooming in late January. Enjoy mocking us all you want, rest-of-Canada. I’ll take that few days of crappy slush and the extra car accidents over months of dark cold any year.

Nice of you to rub that in. I love Toronto too, and I DO know how much it must hurt you to say that (I know how much you guys love to hate us). Honestly, every time I’ve been out west it’s been really great weather.

However, I should say that my garden has enjoyed record-breaking blooms.

I also can attest to the risk David is accepting by not disparaging Toronto (let alone complimenting it) as a west-coaster cum Torontonian.

Though, taking a walk through Stanley Park can tell you Vancouver is not immune to extreme weather. High Park, as far as I know, still still stands unscathed.

Bah, this whole west vs east thing is so dumb – the first two posters here typify what asshats people turn into over this petty nonsense.I've lived in Vancouver, I've lived in Toronto. I loved them both, except for the idiots like Cathy and Brenton in both cities.
